Transparent, imperfect and passionate about the journey.

The story of our tees and the people who make them.

Local, organic cotton

We work closely with an ethical, GOTS-certified supplier of the finest cotton, produced from organic crops grown in Gujarat.

This supports the farmers and their families whilst reducing water consumption.

And by producing as close as possible to where our apparel is made, we can minimise our carbon footprint from transportation.

Low impact and
natural dyes

One of our medium-term goals is to transition to fully-natural and plant-based dyes. But until then, we work with a combination of low-impact, GOTS-certified dyes and certain natural dyes including Indigo.

Creating opportunity

Many girls and young women earn money from shelling prawns at Sassoon Dock, a nearby fishing port and market.

This involves spending up to twelve hours at a time crouched on the ground. Without fair pay, job security, or any consideration for their welfare.

Changing this is where our work begins.

Community-based production

Our apparel is made in a training and production studio within a low income community in south Mumbai.

This allows our team of young women, many of whom are first generation learners from illiterate families, to work flexible hours around their other commitments at home.

Stable, dignified employment

The women who make your clothes can master a skill, earn their own money, and enrol in education whilst they work. Without time constraints, fixed shifts, or a costly commute stopping them from becoming independent.

We aspire to offer holistic support to everyone involved in production, through our own work and through our partnership with local NGO, The OSCAR Foundation.

Getting girls into school

We donate Β£1 from every piece we sell to support grassroots education projects in the community.

By providing employment and life-coaching to the women who work with us, we can change their attitudes to educating girls, and in turn get their daughters and others in their community into school.

Life-changing tees

Once a batch of tees is ready, checked and packed we endeavour to ship by sea over sending by air. Although hand on heart, this isn’t always possible.

But we always ship in compostable packaging, and use recycled card and low-impact dyes for our swing tags and anything else we need to print.

Impact

With 12 million girls out of school in India, and many more women out of work, we’ve chosen to build our business around what it takes to change this.

Educated, empowered and independent women have greater control over their futures, marry later, have fewer children and live more dignified, comfortable lives.

This has an effect on overpopulation. And everything else we need to do becomes that little bit easier.

The last thing we want is for you to buy things you don’t need. But next time you need some tees, consider buying ours.

The team in south Mumbai will be very grateful for your order.
